Celebrating First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples’ Contributions on National Indigenous Peoples Day

Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day (NIPD), PTW reflects on the profound history, resilience, and vibrant culture of Indigenous Peoples. This day is a time to celebrate First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples’ invaluable contributions to Canada, while also recognizing their enduring strength in overcoming historical injustices.

On June 14th, PTW came together to celebrate NIPD and welcomed Pam Beebe from the Kanai First Nation in Southern Alberta, to speak with staff on the importance of preserving Indigenous heritage and the significance of NIPD to Indigenous Peoples. We also hosted a Bannock cooking competition with staff and members of our senior leadership team, followed by Bannock Tacos provided by Kokom’s Bannock Kitchen & Catering. Congratulations to Justin Bunz, who won the Bannock cooking contest!

We would also like to thank all staff who joined us in our celebration and made space to honour and recognize the invaluable contributions of Indigenous Peoples to Canada. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to understanding and respecting First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples’ cultural richness and enduring legacies.
